Duration: Permanent.

Location: This role is based in The Quadrant:MK. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered. For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes.

Band & Salary: (Band 3b) £46,701 - £55,411

Brief Description

In this role, you will lead and support a team of Operational Planners and Specialists to successfully deliver timetable changes that meet customer needs, industry standards, and contractual commitments.

About The Role (External)

About the team..

We lead a skilled team of technical specialists and Operational Planners to deliver accurate, timely Capacity Planning timetables that meet contractual and industry standards. Our focus is on clear prioritisation, strong compliance with the Network Code, and continuous performance improvement through regular feedback and development.

Safety and well-being are central to our approach, alongside maintaining efficient resource planning to meet business demands. We also manage the Visualisation data process to support national train planning. Above all, we embody Network Rail’s values, driving excellence and collaboration in everything we do.

What does the average day look like?

A typical day involves leading and supporting a team of technical specialists and Operational Planners to prioritise and deliver key Capacity Planning timetabling tasks. You’ll manage workload allocation, balancing both long-term strategic projects and urgent short-term needs to ensure a flawless timetable.

You’ll focus on maintaining a strong culture of compliance with the Network Code, while regularly reviewing team performance through one-to-ones, meetings, and feedback sessions. Driving continuous improvement is a constant priority, encouraging innovation and adopting best practices.

Who are we looking for?

For an individual who can effectively manage a team of Operational Planners and Specialists in order to successfully deliver required timetable changes in line with customer and industry expectations, and contractual obligations

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in successful delivery of multiple projects
  • Proven successful experience in complex timetabling and demand prioritisation
  • Proven ability to engage, influence and build collaborative relationships with customers; and stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven successful experience in complex timetabling and demand prioritisation
  • Proven ability of building team capability through development and implementation of project disciplines
