We’re Aldermore – the award-winning bank, trusted and highly rated by over a quarter of a million customers for more than a decade. With our range of specialist mortgages, savings accounts and business finance solutions, we're backing more people to go for it.
We thrive by saying “yes” to our customers. We respect the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and their startups; we give first-timers a leg-up onto the property ladder; we open up the lending market to many; and thousands of customers chose Motonovo Finance every week to buy their next car, van or motorbike.
This is where you come in. We are on a journey. A journey defined by a destination; to deliver on our purpose.
Let Us Tell You a Bit About The Opportunity
Join our team as an Operational Risk Partner - Payments, Resilience & Third Parties on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a second line of defence role where you’ll play a key part in embedding our Operational Risk Management Framework across the business.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders at all levels, providing credible challenge, expert guidance, and promoting a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and proactive risk management.
The role will cover three specialist areas:
- Payments & Transaction Processing Risk
- Third Party Risk
- Operational Resilience
We’re looking for someone with specialist depth in at least one of these areas, along with the capability and confidence to operate effectively across all three. Prior 2nd or 3rd line risk experience is strongly preferred, with the ability to take ownership and deliver independently.
This is a fantastic opportunity to influence risk culture and contribute to the success of a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation.
To act as an ambassador of the Bank’s vision: Back more people to go for it in life and in business.

- Provide assurance to the Board on the accuracy of 1st line risk assessments and overall effectiveness of risk management.
- Oversee and assure risk identification and mitigation within key projects, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
- Monitor and track material risk events, ensuring high data quality and timely remedial action by 1st line functions.
- Review and challenge RCSAs, identifying inconsistencies and ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
- Support risk reporting to NFRC and other committees, including thematic oversight analysis with the Group Operational Risk team.
What do we expect from you?
- Strong knowledge of operational risk within financial services, ideally with expertise in Payments, Operational Resilience, or Third Party Risk.
- In-depth understanding of current banking risks, issues, and events to support effective challenge and reporting.
- Proven 2nd or 3rd line risk experience, with the ability to work independently and deliver results consistently.
- Strong analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skilled in translating complex data into clear, actionable insights and reports.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and influencing skills; adept at engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
What can you expect from us?
- Hybrid working model – 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
- A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
- A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
- A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
- And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.
