We're seeking someone to join our team as a Operations Data Governance Associate in Operations Risk and Regulatory Control Division (ORRC), to provide consistently high standards, identify and resolve issues, challenge existing processes and controls whilst working with cross functional teams to implement Operations Data Governance strategy.
In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position within the Glasgow location.

What You'll Do In The Role
- Support data projects (Data Policy Implementation / Sensitive Data / Data Lineage) through application of Policy principles and guidance.
- Develop a strong understanding of the Data Policy standards and Sensitive Data requirements and use this to execute cataloguing requirements.
- Support any Firm-wide data transformation initiatives such as BCBS239 on behalf of Operations.
- Work closely with key Operations stakeholders across the Business to ensure compliance with data policies.
- Build expertise in Collibra and cataloguing data requirements.
- Identify enhancements/process improvements, related project work as required, testing of new changes to be implemented.
- Liaise with other Divisional Data Offices to ensure deadlines and requirements are addressed in a timely manner, escalating issues where necessary.
- Develop effective partnerships across all stakeholder groups, within Operations, across Divisions and Business Units, Technology and Legal and Compliance.
- Understand the Data Issue Management strategy and cross section with Data Policy.
- Build regulatory and functional business knowledge on Data Quality matters.
- Contribute to the team's transformation agenda.

What you'll bring to the role:
- Broad foundational knowledge of Morgan Stanley Business lines, financial products and market knowledge, regulatory landscape.
- Data Management and Lineage knowledge is advantageous but not necessary.
Competency Skills
The Successful Candidate Will Preferably Therefore Have
- Clear and effective communication, interpersonal skills and analysis. Some business knowledge of financial products is needed, which can be developed, however good communication skills, analysis skills and time management are essential.
- Good organization and project management skills as the role involves executing data projects and communicating to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills, ability to effectively communicate within stakeholder groups.
- Team ethos, who works well face to face and remotely. The sharing of information is key to the success of the team.
- Proactive learning and desire to develop in the specialized role. The candidate will be motivated, self-driven and excited by an operational role with changing priorities and objectives often with tight deadlines.
- High level of ownership and accountability.
- The ability to be analytical, problem solve with a good attention to detail, identifying and raising issues as they arise.
- At least 2 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
