Job Purpose
The Operations Director – Provinces is responsible for leading and delivering all Service and Major Works operations outside the Greater London area, ensuring safety, quality, and profitability are at the heart of all activities. The role is accountable for driving performance across provincial branches, managing portfolio retention and growth, and delivering major works projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will be instrumental in executing the company’s strategic plan, improving operational processes, and building a culture of ownership, accountability, and customer focus across the provincial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy Execution
- Lead provincial branch operations for Service, Modernisation, and Major Works functions.
- Translate corporate strategy into actionable plans for branch teams, ensuring alignment with Liftec Express’s four strategic pillars: **People, Customer Experience, Profitable Growth, and Cash
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence across all provincial teams.
Operational Performance
- Deliver high-quality service and major works execution to meet or exceed contractual obligations and customer expectations.
- Oversee branch performance against key KPIs including portfolio retention, revenue growth, margin improvement, and cash collection.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of major works projects, from planning and design through to completion and handover.
- Drive process standardisation and operational best practice across all provincial branches.
People & Culture
- Lead, coach, and develop Branch Managers, Service Managers, and Project Managers to achieve high levels of performance and employee engagement.
- Address skill gaps through targeted recruitment, training, and mentoring programmes.
- Build a high-performance culture centred on ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Customer Experience
- Strengthen customer relationships across provincial accounts through proactive communication, responsiveness, and quality delivery.
- Ensure customer queries and escalations are addressed with urgency and professionalism.
- Collaborate with sales teams to retain key contracts and secure new opportunities.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Take full P\&L responsibility for provincial operations, ensuring revenue, margin, and cash targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Ensure robust contract management practices to protect Liftec Express commercially and legally.
Health, Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Maintain the highest EH\&S standards in all provincial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory and industry regulations.
- Lead investigations into incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure all works comply with EN81, LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant regulations and standards.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in a senior operational leadership role within the lift, construction, or engineering services industry.
- Strong knowledge of lift maintenance, modernisation, and installation practices.
- Experience managing multi-branch, geographically dispersed teams.
- Demonstrable track record of improving operational performance and profitability.
- Commercial acumen with experience managing P\&L, budgets, and complex contracts.
- Strong understanding of EH\&S and compliance requirements in the lift industry.
