Role Purpose The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective, safe and compliant operation of the PurpleSector site, including offices, workshops, storage buildings, welfare facilities, external areas and associated infrastructure.The role ensures that the site is well maintained, safe, secure and efficient for employees, visitors and external stakeholders. The Operations Manager acts as the primary point of accountability for site safety, facilities, fire safety, IT infrastructure and the coordination of site works, ensuring that the site supports efficient day-to-day operations and reflects the professionalism of the business. Key ResponsibilitiesSite & Facilities Management Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the site, ensuring all facilities are safe, functional and well maintained. Managing planned and reactive maintenance across buildings, workshops, storage areas, welfare facilities, external areas, parking and access routes. Maintaining exceptionally high standards across the entire site, ensuring all internal and external areas are clean, well organised, safe and presentable at all times. Defining, communicating and embedding site standards, ensuring that employees, contractors and visitors understand expectations and contribute to maintaining a professional, well-managed working environment. Ensuring site infrastructure (utilities, power, heating, water, waste, security systems) is maintained and fit for purpose. Acting as the primary point of contact for all site-related matters. Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensuring robust, compliant and practical health & safety systems are in place and followed across the site, in line with relevant legislation and standards. Managing risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and site inductions. Ownership of fire safety management, including fire risk assessments, drills, equipment checks and liaison with external advisors where required. Acting as the site lead for audits, inspections and incident management. IT & Site Infrastructure Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation, reliability and effectiveness of IT systems supporting the site and wider business and ensuring systems meet operational, security and business needs. Managing relationships with external IT service providers, ensuring appropriate support, service levels, security and resilience are in place. Coordinating the provision, setup and maintenance of user hardware, networks, connectivity, access systems and core business systems. Supporting onboarding and offboarding of staff from an IT perspective, including equipment, access and permissions. Coordinating IT upgrades, changes and issue resolution, minimising disruption to site operations. Identifying opportunities to improve IT systems, reliability and user experience. Contractor & Supplier Management
Sourcing and managing contractors and suppliers for maintenance, facilities, IT and site works. Ensuring all contractors are appropriately selected, inducted, supervised and managed in line with site standards and safety requirements. Managing supplier performance, costs and quality of delivery. Project Management - Site Projects (Infrastructure, Facilities & Capital Works) Full project management accountability for site-owned works, upgrades and improvement projects (e.g. extensions, refurbishments, utilities, services, layout changes). Defining scope, budgets, timelines and specifications in conjunction with the Operations Director and CEO. Ensuring all site projects are fully integrated into live operations, with clear planning for access, safety, sequencing, downtime, communication and handover. Acting as the on-site operational lead during execution, ensuring standards, safety and operational continuity are maintained at all times. Coordinating internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget. Managing risks, change and communication throughout project delivery. Leading pre-start planning, coordination meetings and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned. Operational Management & Control
Establishing and leading a structured daily site operations rhythm, including daily operational meetings, site walk-rounds and priority setting to ensure safe, efficient and well-coordinated day-to-day operations. Acting as the focal point for operational coordination across the site, ensuring that facilities activity, maintenance, projects and business operations are aligned and do not conflict. Proactively identifying operational risks, constraints or clashes (e.g. space, access, utilities, people, safety) and resolving them before they impact delivery. Providing clear operational visibility of site status, planned works, issues and actions, using simple visual management and structured communication. Setting and enforcing site priorities where conflicts arise, balancing safety, operational delivery and business needs. Operational Support to Client Projects Supporting client and delivery projects that are executed on site by ensuring facilities, space, access, utilities, welfare, IT and safety arrangements are available and coordinated. Working closely with the Technical Project Lead to plan and sequence on-site activity, avoiding clashes with other site operations. Ensuring appropriate risk assessments, permits, inductions and site controls are in place for project teams and contractors. Acting as the escalation point for site-related constraints or conflicts impacting project delivery. Maintaining overall site standards, safety and operational control during live project activity. Continuous Improvement
Monitoring and controlling site-related expenditure to ensure value for money. Developing and improving site operating procedures, systems and documentation. Maintaining accurate records relating to compliance, maintenance, inspections and projects. Identifying opportunities to improve site efficiency, safety and user experience. Designing, implementing and sustaining 5S and workplace organisation standards across offices, workshops, storage areas and external spaces. Establishing clear ownership of areas, standards and routines to ensure the site remains organised, efficient and audit-ready at all times. Driving a culture of continuous operational improvement, encouraging teams and contractors to identify waste, inefficiency and opportunities for better ways of working. Essential Proven experience in a site operations, facilities management or site management role. Strong working knowledge of health & safety, fire safety and contractor management. Experience managing building maintenance, site services and infrastructure. Experience managing IT infrastructure via third-party providers. Demonstrable project management experience delivering site or facilities projects. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a practical, hands-on environment. Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills. Confident communicator, able to deal effectively with internal teams and external suppliers. Full UK driving licence.
