The Organisational Development (OD) Business Partner at Kisimul is a senior role, working as a strategic partner to the Head of Organisational Development & Employee Engagement and key business leaders. This role is instrumental in driving the design, development, and effective implementation of strategic OD and employee engagement initiatives. They will play a pivotal role in cultivating a high-performing, values-led culture, enabling colleagues to achieve their full potential and directly strengthening Kisimul’s ability to provide outstanding holistic, person-centred care. The OD Business Partner acts as a critical internal consultant, translating organisational strategy into tangible people solutions and leading significant OD projects within the overall OD & EE framework.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Embedding of the ABC Framework & Lifecycle Integration:
- Partners with the Head of OD & EE to strategically refine and embed the ABC Framework across the entire employee lifecycle (e.g., recruitment, induction, supervision, PDR, talent management), ensuring seamless and values-driven colleague journeys.
- Drives the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of ABC Framework adoption throughout Kisimul services and teams.
- Collaborates across the People Team and with wider organisational stakeholders to ensure OD processes are strategically integrated and aligned with the ABC Framework.
Strategic Colleague Development & Career Pathways
- Leads the design, development, and implementation of clear, progressive career pathways for all colleagues, ensuring alignment with the ABC Framework, Kisimul's strategic growth, and colleague aspirations.
- Collaborates strategically with Therapy and Social Development Programme (SDP) teams to ensure colleague journeys and development pathways reflect specialist expertise and integrated practice.
- Establishes and monitors mechanisms to track the impact of career pathways on colleague retention, growth, and succession.
Strategic Learning & Talent Programme Design & Oversight
- Designs, develops, and oversees the delivery of impactful learning programmes, including pathways for early careers, aspiring leaders, and established leaders, to build succession and enhance leadership capability across Kisimul.
- Identifies, assesses, and manages strategic partnerships with external training providers and effectively leverages internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deliver bespoke, high-quality development experiences.
- Drives the creation and customisation of innovative learning content, ensuring alignment with strategic organisational objectives.
Strategic Skills Gap Analysis & Capability Building
- Leads the identification of strategic skills gaps across the entire organisation (e.g., advanced digital literacy, specialist therapeutic approaches, core leadership 'soft skills').
- Designs and drives the implementation of comprehensive programmes and interventions to address these gaps, ensuring colleagues are equipped for current and future demands, including digital transformation and Kisimul’s evolving standards.
- Collaborates strategically with Qualifications, eLearning, compliance, and clinical teams to ensure a cohesive and impactful development offering that meets organisational needs.
Employee Engagement Strategy & Insight
- Contributes to the development and leads the execution of Kisimul’s comprehensive employee engagement strategy, including the selection, implementation, and analysis of engagement surveys and other feedback channels.
- Interprets and translates complex engagement data and insights into actionable strategic recommendations for senior leadership, fostering a culture where colleagues feel heard and valued.
- Drives the "You Said, We Did" approach at an organisational level, empowering leaders to deliver meaningful feedback, take ownership, and ensure visible follow-through on engagement initiatives.
- Strategically designs and oversees the implementation of employee engagement opportunities and initiatives, ensuring they effectively utilise and promote platforms like The Village to foster connection and belonging.
OD Project Leadership & Strategic Co-production
- Leads and champions significant OD projects from conception through to full embedding, ensuring they are co-produced with key stakeholders and teams across Kisimul.
- Drives engagement with senior leaders and internal communications to ensure effective launch, sustainable embedding, and cultural adoption of new initiatives.
- Accountable for the successful delivery, strategic impact, and cultural integration of major OD projects under the direction of the Head of OD & EE.
Strategic Organisational Communication & Flow
- Develops and oversees the implementation of strategy for clear, consistent, and effective communication across the organisation, identifying optimal channels to ensure all colleagues understand key messages.
- Establishes and champions robust mechanisms for two-way communication and feedback, ensuring message flow in both directions across all levels of Kisimul.
Culture & Values Leadership
- Drives the strategic embedding of Kisimul’s values and trauma-informed practice across all OD initiatives, processes, and leadership behaviours.
- Designs and oversees the development of organisational-wide materials and programmes that consistently reinforce these principles.
- Strategically sources, designs, and may directly deliver highly bespoke training sessions that significantly enhance Kisimul's culture, including advanced leadership and team development.
Strategic Leader Coaching & Capability Building
- Develops and implements frameworks for coaching and embedding leaders across the organisation, building internal coaching capabilities and fostering a culture of continuous leadership development.
- Provides expert 1:1 coaching and consultancy to senior managers and leaders on complex team dynamics, performance, and leadership challenges.
General OD Leadership & Strategic Contribution
- Contributes to organisational assessments and leads comprehensive diagnosis to identify systemic issues and strategic opportunities for improvement.
- Provides expert internal OD consultancy to senior management and diverse teams, advising on complex organisational and people challenges.
- Designs and leads complex organisational change management initiatives and interventions under the strategic guidance of the Head of OD & EE.
- Drives advanced data analysis and insights to inform strategic OD decisions, measure the return on investment (ROI) of OD initiatives, and predict future trends.
- Stays abreast of national and global OD trends and research, applying a strategic lens to inform and shape Kisimul's OD approach.
Sector-Specific OD Leadership & Regulatory Alignment
- Ensures all OD strategies and initiatives are designed to directly support Kisimul's ability to achieve and maintain "Good" or "Outstanding" ratings from CQC/Ofsted, providing strategic evidence against their "Well-led", "Effective", and "Safe" key questions.
- Actively engages with and leverages Skills for Care frameworks, resources, and funding opportunities (e.g., Workforce Development Fund) to inform and enhance Kisimul's OD strategy, ensuring alignment with sector best practices and recognised standards.
- Collaborates with Integrated Care Systems (ICS) and local authorities where relevant, representing Kisimul in strategic workforce development and talent discussions.
- Ensures OD strategies explicitly promote robust safeguarding cultures and enhance colleague well-being, addressing factors that impact safety and professional resilience within the demanding social care environment.
- Designs and champions OD interventions that attract, recruit, and retain colleagues who embody Kisimul's values and commitment to compassionate, person-centred care, a critical factor for workforce stability in the sector.
Strategic Organisation Design & Workforce Planning
- Contributes to the analysis and recommendations for optimal organisational structures, roles, and reporting lines to support Kisimul's strategy, efficiency, and growth.
- Leads the forecasting of future workforce needs, identifying strategic talent gaps, and developing long-term workforce plans to build Kisimul's future capabilities and ensure talent pipelines.
Performance & Talent Management System Design & Oversight
- Contributes to the design and continuous evolution of Kisimul's overall performance management framework, ensuring it is fair, effective, and supports individual and organisational growth and accountability.
- Develops and oversees comprehensive succession plans for critical roles across Kisimul, ensuring a robust talent pipeline for future leadership and specialist positions.
About You
- Strategic OD & L&D Leadership: Proven track record in designing, driving, and implementing large-scale OD initiatives across the full employee lifecycle, including culture change, talent management, leadership development, and employee engagement.
- Programme Design & Oversight: Demonstrable experience in designing, commissioning, and overseeing comprehensive leadership development and bespoke training programmes that enhance capability and drive cultural change.
- Employee Engagement Expertise: Significant experience developing and implementing employee engagement strategies, including survey design, advanced data analysis, and translating insights into actionable improvements.
- Strategic & Analytical Acumen: Strong strategic and analytical skills to diagnose complex organisational issues, develop evidence-based solutions, and measure the ROI of OD interventions.
- Senior Stakeholder Influence: Proven ability to influence and consult effectively at a senior leadership level, building credible relationships and driving strategic change within a broader strategic framework.
- Change Management & Co-production: Expertise in change management methodologies and leading organisational transformation, with practical application of co-production principles in OD project leadership.
- Sector-Specific Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the UK social care sector and its regulatory frameworks (CQC, Ofsted), understanding how OD impacts quality ratings. Extensive experience leveraging Skills for Care frameworks and resources.
- Strategic People Planning: Experience in strategic workforce planning and organisational design.
- Team Leadership: Proven experience in line managing and developing OD professionals.
- Qualifications: CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent demonstrable experience) in Organisational Development, HR, or a related field.
- Values & Practice: A strong commitment to values-led practice and trauma-informed approaches in all OD interventions.
