Job Purpose
As an OT Regional Support Engineer, you will operate within the Regional Support team, a key component of OT Operations and the broader Technology Services team.
You will be a technical expert dedicated to supporting and maintaining various technologies and service lines for customers across United Utilities.
This role encompasses both reactive and proactive responsibilities, demanding a comprehensive understanding of Operational Technology.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in diagnosing and resolving complex OT faults, supporting the triage process and ensuring incidents are resolved within SLA targets.
- Diagnose and assess operational and technical issues, identifying asset needs related to compliance, condition, serviceability, and performance. Evaluate improvement opportunities and lead or support the implementation of effective remedial actions.
- Provide technical input into capital and operational projects, ensuring new and existing assets are fit for purpose and aligned with operational requirements.
- Develop and refine technical procedures and documentation. Mentor team members and share expertise to uplift team capability and service quality.
- Support 24/7 service delivery through participation in the callout rota across both team disciplines (Telemetry & Site Systems), including lone working when required.
Technical Skills & Experience
- A strong IT background with proven experience in managing and navigating complex systems, including servers, RDP sessions, and specialized applications such as STS.
- Solid understanding of Operational Technology (OT) terminology, architecture, and processes.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, WinCC, VNC, WSUS, VMware, and PowerShell scripting.
- Familiarity with STS, GeoSCADA (ViewX & WebX), telemetry hardware, and point configuration standards.
- Good grasp of IP networking principles, including router configuration and network diagnostics.
- Experience working with SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and client applications across both modern and legacy systems.
