The Role
Join us as a Transport and Operations Manager reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the transport operation at our site in Magor.
For this role it is essential you hold a Transport Manager CPC and have experience managing a General Haulage business. You will be managing a Transport operation and will be responsible for the efficient day to day running of the operation whilst working closely with our customer . You will therefore also need to have a proven networks logistics background. You will be growing the current team and managing efficiency of routing & drivers. This role will involve both commercial and operational management.

Shift Information
Monday to Friday – 9 hour shift – 1 hour unpaid lunch break
Where You Will Be Based
You will be based on our customer site in Magor
Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC experience and be CPC National qualified
- Have a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background
- Have a minimum of 5+ years Transport Management experience
- Have worked within a fast-paced sector
- Experience of working with transport TMS systems, ideally Mandata
- Excellent geographical knowledge
- Exceptional man-management skills
Key Responsibilities
- Management of a large team of drivers plus agency and support staff along with fleet, compliance, and all transport equipment
- Meeting daily KPI and service requirements in an ever-changing environment
- Responsible for managing change positively and effectively by pro-actively managing operational planning and changing customer requirements
- To ensure that the transport function is legally compliant by ensuring correct compliance processes are in place, and monitored within the O-licence regulations
- Have managed in excess of 80+ drivers
- Share a strong emphasis on improving the efficiency of the transport operation, development of the Transport Team and overall profitability
- To ensure that the use of core/agency staff, own fleet/hire vehicles and subcontractors are optimised in line with business requirements (i.e. resource levels are appropriate for the volumes)
- To ensure good quality communication with the customer on a day-to-day basis and to deliver any agreed actions required to keep the operation efficient.
- Discrepancy resolution and management of customer service issues ensuring customer service levels meet or exceed the contractual agreement
- Strong transport experience and results driven
- Excellent communication skills are essential for liaison at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders and the ability to manage, develop and train team to provide a productive, compliant, and cost-efficient service.
