About The Role
As our newest outlet manager you will be expected to deliver, the day to day running of the Temple Newsam play barn, including a retail outlet, café and indoor play area.
The role will be responsible for the delivery of the outlet in terms of financial management, staff management, food safety and environmental targets.
You will contribute to the creation and lead on the delivery of offers and menus, working in conjunction with the wider team to reflect seasonal events and will deliver an excellent visitor experience encouraging new and repeat visits.
You will successfully deliver to targets and wider strategic objectives, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice, and achieving high standards of customer service and financial performance.
You will have skills and in-depth knowledge and understanding in catering and retail management .
You will have excellent communication and staff managerial skills with experience of successfully managing and motivating employees, enabling them to deliver to their full potential. You will be performance driven and committed to continuous improvement. Working as part of the Climate, Energy and Green Spaces management team, the successful candidate will demonstrate the council values and behaviours to help us to achieve our ambition to become the best city council in the country.
This role is integral to the Temple Newsam Estate team which delivers a major heritage visitor attraction made up of an historic working rare breeds farm, formal and informal gardens and parkland, much of it a grade II listed Capability Brown landscape, sports facilities, café and retail.

Job Purpose
To undertake day to day management of a catering, retail and / or hospitality facility in line with best practice and as an integral part of the visitor attractions in which they are located.
Responsibilities
- To manage catering, retail and / or hospitality facilities and activities where appropriate at a defined site within the Climate, Energy and Greenspaces service.
- To implement and monitor legislative, health and safety, best practices, and policy requirements in the running of a catering, retail and / or hospitality facility.
- To implement improvements where appropriate to the catering, retail and / or hospitality facility offer in line with best practice and in close co-ordination with associated services, and to maximise the visitor experience.
- To manage resources to maximise efficiency.
- To undertake responsibility for the on-site management for licensable activities at a defined site or sites.
- To play a role in contributing to the upkeep of associated facilities as required, e.g. toilets.
- To manage and motive staff, including ensuring that appropriate staff development is in place.
- To manage budgets in relating to the functional area for which the post is responsible.
- To ensure effective consultation mechanisms in order to develop the work of the Climate, Energy and Greenspaces service.
- To compile and provide performance information as requested that is accurate and timely.
- To represent the Climate, Energy and Greenspaces service at all appropriate internal and external meetings.
- To fulfil duties in line with the Parks and Greenspace Strategy and related strategies and service objectives and in support of the aims of the Leeds Strategic Plan and Council Business Plan.
- To undertake other duties as may be required from time to time.
- To ensure the procurement of goods and services is in accordance with financial regulations, corporate policy, and legal requirements.
- To administer first aid as required

Qualifications
- Qualification in Food Hygiene practice
- Level 3 first aid qualification (To be obtained within six months of appointment)
