Located in Plymouth, our modern, well-equipped hospital provides planned surgical care for NHS, private, and insured patients. We offer high-quality treatment across a broad range of specialties, with a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and recovery.
This is a full-time position /37.5 hours per week working across our Outpatients, Infection control and Radiology departments at our Practice Plus Group hospital in Plymouth. The individual will be able to work from Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays.
What you'll be doing
To deliver high-quality patient care and clinical support within the Outpatient Department, while contributing to infection prevention effort
Key Responsibilities
Outpatient Department (3 Days/Week):
- Prepare patients for outpatient procedures and consultations.
- Conduct ECGs and perform blood tests/investigations as requested.
- Take MRSA/MSSA swabs in line with infection control protocols.
- Run HCA-led clinics, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care.
- Support patient flow and maintain clinical area hygiene and safety.
- Provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients throughout their visit.
- Alternate weeks: support ultrasound-guided injection clinics.
Infection Control (2 Days/Week)
- Collaborate with the Infection Control Lead to collect and correlate SSI data.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in data entry and reporting for audits and governance.
- Support infection control initiatives, including surveillance, education, and compliance monitoring- Assist to undertake education sessions/audits
- Participate in meetings and contribute to quality improvement projects related to infection prevention.
- Act as a role model for PPG & IPC services through the collection and analysis of Surgical Site Infection (SSI) data.
What we'll look for in you
Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Care Certificate.
- Phlebotomy and ECG training desirable.
- Experience in outpatient or clinical settings preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of infection control principles and confidentiality standards.
- ANTT competent.
