About The Role
Oversight Engineer
Full-Time, Contractual location of Gloucester Business Park & Aztec West (Bristol), 3-4 days a week in office.
Step into a role where your technical insight and leadership will shape the future of clean energy. As an Oversight Engineer at EDF, you’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects—ensuring that complex engineering challenges are met with clarity, collaboration, and precision.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As an Oversight Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing technical issues across engineering delivery. You’ll lead the coordination of project board packs, develop technical work requests, and review reports with a sharp analytical eye. Your work will support organisational learning, drive issue resolution, and ensure that challenges are escalated and addressed effectively—keeping the project on track and future-focused.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
In addition to a competitive salary of £54,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the go-to person for identifying and analysing risks, shaping project strategies, and clearly communicating your findings to senior stakeholders. Your ability to translate complex technical issues into actionable plans will be vital in safeguarding project success.
You’ll lead the charge in delivering technical solutions, ensuring that outcomes are clearly defined and actions are followed through. Your oversight will help maintain momentum and ensure that solutions are implemented efficiently and effectively.
When challenges arise, you’ll act swiftly—escalating issues appropriately and monitoring their resolution. Your proactive approach and structured thinking will contribute to the wider success of the engineering delivery team.
Who You Are
You bring a collaborative mindset and the confidence to lead in a dynamic, evolving environment. While a technical degree or equivalent in a relevant field is desirable, what matters most is your ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, manage change, and drive progress.
You’re comfortable navigating complex technical landscapes, including UK nuclear safety cases, and can coordinate information from a wide range of sources. Your structured approach helps you make sound decisions quickly, and your initiative ensures you stay one step ahead. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel is a plus, helping you communicate your insights with clarity and impact.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 3rd August, interviews will follow shortly after.
Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
