What will this role achieve?


pladis was established in June 2016 and brings together the much loved, global brands of Godiva, McVitie’s, Ulker, and DeMet’s under one pladis umbrella, to form a global giant in biscuits, chocolate, and confectionary.


This role will be based at our manufacturing site in Wigston to provide compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods, reporting to the Site SQSE (Safety, Quality, Security & Environment) Manager.


As a key member of the factory Quality and Compliance team, the Packaging Technologist will support the effective day-to-day management of packaging used on site; providing compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods and providing support for the improvement and maintenance of packaging quality standards.


This role is ideal for someone with a background in Quality Assurance who is looking to broaden their experience in a packaging-focused position. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide cross-cover for other members of the Quality and Food Safety team during periods of absence, including holidays. What will be your key deliverables?


  • Conducts compliance checks on printed packaging against specifications, including spectral colour assessments and visual comparisons to Epson proofs, in line with an agreed surveillance sampling schedule; captures and stores trend data in the QA repository, shares insights with the Senior Artwork Technical Manager, and ensures assessments meet sampling standards and retailer requirements
  • Operational and Data Support: Maintains coding, calendars, and data updates (e.g. MID), supports KPI monitoring through data collation including Certificates of Analysis, and provides documentation for non-conformance issues and supplier communications.
  • Quality and Compliance Oversight: Holds and releases non-compliant packaging materials, stores master standards, participates in internal audits and traceability activities, and supports external audits by providing technical packaging data.
  • Continuous Improvement and Issue Resolution: Identifies improvement opportunities, contributes to projects, supports investigations with escalation when needed, and recommends and helps implement preventative measures to reduce risks and promote best practices.

  • Strong IT Skills
  • Ability to communicate concisely across multiple platforms
  • Ability to travel occasionally for supplier audits
  • Eye for detail
  • Analytical skills
  • Needs to pass Munsell Colour Test


Desirable


  • BSc Degree qualification
  • Any previous experience in quality or compliance
  • Food safety level 3
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Lead Auditor Qualification
