We are seeking a motivated and compassionate
Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly, dynamic, and supportive team within the
Paediatric Emergency Department at
Frimley Park Hospital.
In this permanent, part-time role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality care by leading and supporting a team of nurses. Working under the guidance of the Senior Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, you will take responsibility for coordinating and overseeing shifts in their absence, ensuring safe, effective, and family-centred care is maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job
- To support the ED Sister/Charge Nurse in leading the nursing team, ensuring that high standards are met and maintained for all children and their families
- To support the ED Sister/Charge Nurse ensuring the departments ethos reflects the Trust values, and assist with the delivery of patient safety, a good patient experience and the effective running of the department
- To act as a skilled practitioner and senior nurse within the Emergency Department to ensure that the highest quality of care is given to patients
- Ensuring that all clinical practice is evidence based, in accordance with local and national standards for good practice
- To assist in the clinical management of the Emergency Department by ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources, and providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to the team
- In conjunction with the Clinical Matrons / Team Leaders and other Sisters / Charge Nurses facilitate the development of the service and personal development of all nursing staff within the clinical area of responsibility
- To take the lead on projects as appropriate

- NMC registration
- Registered Sick Children’s Nurse
- Evidence of recent Continued Practice Development
Desirable criteria
- APLS
- Module in High Dependency Care
- Module in Paediatric Emergency Care
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to take charge of a clinical unit
- Excellent leadership skills
- Good, effective interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal).
- Able to work without supervision
- Teaching & assessing experience
- Competent in - Triaging/streaming, IV medication, PGD, Plastering, Venepuncture and IV cannulation
Desirable criteria
- Nurse-led competencies
- X-ray requesting
- Suturing
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience within emergency care or an acute setting
- Evidence of up-to-date clinical practice
- Able to demonstrate MDT working
