Navantia UK is continuing to grow across our Scottish operations, and we are looking for an experienced Painter / Blaster to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on major marine and industrial projects while contributing to the highest standards of quality and safety across the yard.
About the Role
As a Painter/Blaster, you will be responsible for preparing, blasting, and coating components to specification. You’ll ensure all surfaces are prepared correctly, conduct coating repairs, and operate blasting, spraying and coating equipment safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong attention to detail, practical expertise, and experience working in industrial or marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
Complete painting and coating of components to the required standards, free from defects.
Repair and prepare all surfaces prior to final coating applications.
Inspect, clean, maintain and service spraying, blasting and coating equipment.
Set up, operate and adjust painting, spraying, and coating machinery.
Carry out shot blasting, spraying, coating repairs and surface preparation.
Conduct tank cleaning and high-pressure water washing where required.
Work safely in confined spaces and follow all site safety instructions.
Operate site plant and equipment such as forklifts or MEWPs (where licensed).
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 3 years’ experience in marine, shipbuilding or heavy industrial environments.
Strong capability in blasting and spraying.
Experience with mechanical/hand preparation tools and coating repair systems.
IPAF / MEWP certification.
Awareness and commitment to high standards of health, safety and quality.
Experience working in confined spaces.
Desirable
ICATS or Train the Painter certification (preferred).
Forklift licence.
Blasting/spraying qualification or shipbuilding experience.
