We have an amazing opportunity for you to join us as a Paralegal-Substantive Review
Purpose and main duties
As we are changing the way we deliver fitness to practise investigations moving to a model where we gather all the required evidence (e.g. witness statements, expert reports, health assessments) earlier in the investigation process, our focus is on delivering better quality and more timely investigations, with our ambition to be a compassionate regulator at the centre of what we do. With that in mind, we are setting up a new team who will have responsibility for monitoring substantive orders imposed by a practice committee, to ensure compliance with the order and manage the risk of any non-compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in shaping new ways of working and being responsible for delivering new processes.
The Paralegal-Substantive Review will manage a caseload of substantive review cases, proactively monitoring compliance with orders imposed by practice committees and taking action where information may indicate orders are not being complied with. This role will work closely with lawyers to ensure relevant information is presented at review hearings and that robust submissions are made to panels and will be responsible for communicating and engaging with registrants and their representatives after a hearing, supporting them to comply with their order and providing excellent customer service throughout the post-hearing process.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and managing a varied caseload ensuring orders and panel directions are complied with and cases are efficiently progressed to a review hearing.
- Proactively progressing enquiries, liaising with lawyers to ensure relevant information is assessed in good time and appropriate regulatory decisions about case presentation before a panel are made.
- Analysing information and making sound, evidence-based recommendations on the progression of substantive review cases, including the drafting of accurate and proportionate reports.
- Accurately assessing the risk presented in review cases, ensuring that higher risk cases of non-compliance are quickly identified, prioritised and progressed to an early review hearing.
