We are looking for a passionate and organised Parks Capital Project Officer to join our friendly and committed Parks Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping and improving Hertsmere’s parks and green spaces for residents and visitors. You will be part of a supportive, collaborative team culture that values innovation, quality design and community impact, working on projects that make a visible and lasting difference to local neighbourhoods.
In this role, you will support the delivery of the Council’s parks development and capital projects programme, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard of design and build quality. You will manage a range of projects including new or refurbished play areas, park infrastructure and landscaping, oversee procurement processes, and ensure robust financial and project controls are in place. The post also involves working closely with internal teams and supporting consultations, funding bids and publicity around new schemes.
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in managing parks, public realm or similar capital projects, who enjoy seeing projects through from concept to completion. You will bring strong project management and organisational skills, an understanding of procurement and design considerations, and the ability to communicate confidently. A background or qualification in horticulture, design or a related field is desirable, but we also value transferable experience, enthusiasm for public spaces, and a proactive, problem-solving approach. If you are motivated, collaborative and keen to help deliver high-quality parks for the community, we would love to hear from you. As the role involves visiting sites across the borough, you will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
The post is offered as an 18 month fixed term contract on a full time basis (36 hours per week).
