Pastoral Teaching Assistant | Lewisham

School-based Pastoral Teaching Assistant opportunity at a welcoming, well-supported Secondary School

Would you like to support young people with their attendance, behaviour, confidence and emotional development, while gaining hands-on experience in a school environment?

What’s on offer:

Full-time Pastoral Teaching Assistant position
£24,000–£26,000 (dependant on experience)
September start, with immediate trial day available
Work closely with the Pastoral and Safeguarding teams
Support with behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and transitions
Opportunity to work 1:1 and with small groups
Clear routes into future training (e.g., counselling, teaching, safeguarding)

About you

Empathetic, patient and able to build strong, trusting relationships
Confident communicating with pupils, parents and staff
Interested in supporting mental health, wellbeing and behaviour
Able to remain calm and consistent, even in challenging moments
Happy to assist with restorative conversations and day-to-day pastoral issues
Organised, reliable and able to keep accurate notes when required
Keen to contribute positively to a school community
