We’re recruiting on behalf of a high-profile, government-owned organisation that plays a vital role in managing and improving transport infrastructure across England.
As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll support the delivery of an accurate and compliant payroll service within a fast-paced, people-focused HR Shared Services team.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or non-routine payroll queries
- Collaborate with external payroll providers and internal teams to ensure service excellence
- Maintain up-to-date payroll documentation and support knowledge sharing/training
- Administer faster payments accurately and within deadlines
- Review and analyse payroll reports, identifying and resolving any discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, tax, pension, holiday pay, and minimum wage legislation
- Conduct governance checks to uphold payroll accuracy and mitigate risks
- Provide general support to the Payroll Team Lead, deputising when required
What We’re Looking For
- In-depth understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory compliance
- Proven experience in payroll operations, including handling complex transactions
- Familiarity with payroll systems/software and strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Awareness of current and evolving payroll regulations and best practices
