Role description:
This role is responsible for the development of digitized solutions to enable the continued automation of the payroll function with Arcadis UK&I. Ensuring that data analytics are developed that allow data quality checks / dashboards are used throughout the process to ensure data quality standards are maintained.
This position will oversee two direct reports and report directly to the People Services Director for EU, UK & I. The role also requires building strong, influential partnerships with the Technology team, GSSC, and the Managed Service Provider (MHR).
Role accountabilities:
In more detail, the Payroll Manager will:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, calculations, and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Seeks digital solutions to provide a high quality, right first time, payroll solution to 5,000 Arcadians.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for final internal escalation, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing expert guidance on payroll matters to provide a seamless payroll service.
- Develop and maintain strong MHR relationships, understanding their payroll needs and proactively identifying opportunities for process and data improvement.
- Lead a team of payroll specialists (internal and external), providing direction, training, and support to ensure the delivery of exceptional service, at a high quality, right first time.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to payroll legislation and regulations in the UK, advising internal teams on compliance requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as People Team, Finance, Pensions and compliance teams, to streamline processes and optimise service delivery.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the efficiency and effectiveness of payroll operations, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new payroll system tools and processes to enhance service offerings.
- Share knowledge and best practice with the wider People Services team to build capability
Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate should have an academic degree (preferably in either Finance, Technology or Human Resources) and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience. They should have broad experience and understand the complexity of leading people issues.
Further the candidate should have experiences with diverse and complex matrix businesses in and familiarity working within a Shared Services & Centers of Excellence model.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is desired but not required.
- Experience in payroll management, preferably in a managed service or outsourcing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements in the UK.
- Experience using Oracle HCM and payroll software and systems, with proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor both direct and indirect team members to achieve their full potential.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyse data, and implement solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Professional certification e.g., CIPP
