Working in a complex and changing local government environment, the role requires the ability to influence at all levels and lead transformational change that enhances organisational capability and culture.

Leading the delivery of HR people services across the Council, you will work collaboratively to drive continuous improvement in HR services and contribute to the development of our Corporate Plan and People Strategy. You will ensure the provision of high-quality, customer-focused HR support that enables service delivery, enhances employee experience, and supports the council's transformation agenda.

You will have extensive knowledge of public sector workforce dynamics, including the unique challenges and opportunities. With an in-depth understanding of best practice across all operational areas, you will have knowledge of payroll processes, employment legislation, safeguarding requirements, DBS checks and contract procurement and administration.

Your strong leadership skills alongside excellent communication skills will allow you to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels. You will have significant experience in an operational HR role, preferably within Local Government, and experience of managing HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition resourcing and recruitment and HR systems and data management tools.
