The Women and Children's Division are seeking an exceptional operational leader to join the Perinatal team at North Bristol NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder has a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operations within the Maternity service. Reporting to the General Manager, the Performance and Operations Manager will be a key member of the extended triumvirate team within Perinatal services.

As the Performance and Operations Manager, you will support the triumvirate team to improve the performance, coordination and delivery of our services and work closely with the General Manager to deliver the strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in performance and waiting list management and/or maternity services. They will have good knowledge of the performance targets and wider challenges in maternity and neonatal services. The ideal candidate will also have experience in developing and leading teams and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of patients throughout the maternity and neonatal pathways. The post holder will manage individual teams to ensure high quality management of outpatient and inpatient services, and will work closely with a range of colleagues from all disciplines, to plan and coordinate resources to ensure excellent patient care.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring demand for services and ensuring that the Trust achieves its key performance objectives. The post holder will also ensure that patients are managed in line with Trust policies and national maternity standards for booking.

There is an expectation that the post holder will act as lead for service improvement including improving performance and supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care and other project responsibilities as required.

The post holder will be a budget holder for teams within the speciality.

Education

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Post graduate qualification in healthcare management or equivalent evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience of managing a range of staff in a major service
  • Significant experience of budgetary management including contract income
  • Experience and proven ability in managing organisation/service change
  • Excellent managerial, leadership and organisational skills, with ability to motivate and develop a multi-professional approach
  • Management of waiting lists and performance
  • Acute sector operational experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people and build credibility quickly
  • Knowledge of current NHS issues including performance targets
