Job Description

We are currently seeking a Performance Tester to join our innovative technology department.

The Performance Tester will work collaboratively with wider teams to help, such as QA Engineers, DevOps, Platform Engineers and Software Engineers to develop and build esure’s future performance testing capability.

We are looking for a pure performance specialist, ideally with Gatling, or simular, experience and good knowledge of Java. This role isn’t just about writing scripts — it’s about diving deep into performance analysis, mastering debugging, and pinpointing exactly where the bottlenecks are holding things back

What you’ll do:

• Work together with a diverse team to build esure's future performance testing proficiency
• Proactively improve application performance, reliability, processes and continuous improvement culture
• Define, test and report NFRs across customer journeys and services
• Deliver automated performance, load, stress and endurance testing to meet requirements
• Use leading tools like Gatling, JMeter and k6 for testing
• Build and maintain frameworks integrating with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Creates and delivers end-to-end performance test strategies and plans
• Drives testing improvements, automation, and active engagement in testing communities

What we’d love you to bring:

• A background in software testing and performance testing
• Experience with object orientated programming, preferably Java, Selenium and TestNg/Junit. Experience with API testing is also crucial.
• Must have experience in automation testing where you have actively created and maintained frameworks.
• Skilled in comprehending intricate systems that include API, serverless options, legacy Java platforms, and databases.
• Skilled at unraveling complex frameworks encompassing API integration, serverless solutions, legacy java infrastructures, and databases
• Previous background working within high traffic, highly transactional online environments
• Experience of working in an agile, SCRUM & Dev Ops delivery model

The Interview Process (subject to change):

• You’ll start with an introductory call with one of our Talent Partners. This is a ‘get to know you session’ and for you to explore the position in more detail.
• 1st stage interview: 30 minute interview with one of our QA Leads
• 2nd stage: 1 hour technical interview to showcase your automation and software engineering skills and experience with one of our QA Leads and Senior QA Engineers.
