About The Role

The Person Centred Support Worker plays a crucial role in enabling adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) to live meaningful, connected and fulfilling lives. The role focuses on delivering compassionate, consistent and highly personalised support that recognises each individual’s unique strengths, communication style, sensory needs and aspirations.

You will support people with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mobility, communication, eating and drinking, and engagement in structured activities. A key part of the role is creating an environment where individuals feel safe, respected and empowered, using person centred approaches that promote dignity, choice and wellbeing.

You will help people access the Hub and the wider community safely, following the arrangements outlined in their support plans. This includes supporting individuals to participate in sensory, therapeutic, social and leisure activities that enhance their quality of life and encourage meaningful engagement.

Your contribution will extend beyond direct care: you will observe and record changes in needs, contribute to support planning, communicate effectively with families and professionals, and play an active role in maintaining a positive, inclusive and stimulating environment. The role requires patience, creativity, emotional resilience and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of people with complex needs.

About The Team

Ermine Road Community Hub is a specialist service within Haringey’s day opportunities offer, providing high quality support for adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities. The team is dedicated to creating a warm, inclusive and person centred environment where individuals can develop skills, maintain independence, build relationships and enjoy meaningful experiences.

The team is multidisciplinary in practice, working closely with families, carers, therapists, health professionals and colleagues across the Haringey Learning Disability Partnership. This collaborative approach ensures that each person receives coordinated, holistic support tailored to their physical, sensory, emotional and social needs.

Staff at the Hub bring a diverse range of skills, from communication support and sensory engagement to health related care and activity facilitation. The team values reflective practice, continuous learning and shared problem solving, ensuring that services remain responsive, safe and aligned with best practice. Together, we create a vibrant, supportive and empowering community where every individual is valued and encouraged to thrive.

About You

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient and deeply committed to person centred care. You will bring a calm, respectful and thoughtful approach to supporting people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, recognising the importance of communication, sensory engagement and emotional connection.

You should have the ability to build trusting relationships, work collaboratively within a team and adapt your approach to meet complex and changing needs. Experience in personal care, manual handling, communication support (including non verbal communication), or supporting people with high health and sensory needs is highly beneficial, though a strong commitment to learning and high quality care is equally valued.

You will be someone who pays attention to detail, follows support plans carefully, and contributes positively to a safe and nurturing environment. Curiosity, empathy, resilience and a willingness to develop new skills are essential qualities for success in this role.
