We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Stocken, a category C Prison located in Oakham.

HMP Stocken consists of 1285 adult males.

The Pharmacy at HMP Stocken is not a dispensary pharmacy, there are 6 dispensary hatches within medication / administration points. The pharmacy team consists of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and a Dispenser.

Hours

  • Monday - Sunday service
  • Weekdays 7.30am - 5.30pm
  • Weekends and Bank Holidays 8.30am - 5.30pm

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Ensuring timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
  • Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work – fulfilling the lives of others.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.
  • Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so that the multidisciplinary healthcare team are appropriately informed.

  • You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualifications and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC)
  • You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a pharmacy environment and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
