Betsi Cadwaladr UHB have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to join the expanding digital medicines team. The health board is taking on one of the largest digital medicines transformations with the current electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) project.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience of multi-professional working while working in a fast paced project. You will support the pharmacy digital medicines team to successfully configure and implement ePMA across the health board during a period of significant change in moving from paper-based medicines management processes to digital. You will work closely with project management teams, clinicians, nurses, pharmacy and directly with the ePMA supplier to ensure the smooth implementation of the project. Fixed term or Secondment post until end of March 2026. If applying for secondment, please speak to your line manager before applying.
Main duties of the job
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with ward teams to ensure current processes are captured and prepare for future state processes.
- Utilise your specialist pharmaceutical knowledge and experience to help configure the ePMA system in order to streamline prescribing practice that adheres to local and national guidelines.
- Support the development and testing of training material which will be used to train staff.
- Support the delivery of training across the health board to a variety of staff groups.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Medicines Management qualified.
- ACPT qualified.
Desirable criteria
- Service Improvement Qualification – Silver. Management /Leadership Qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with electronic clinical information systems
- Experience of data manipulation using a range of data formats and tools e.g. basic pivot tables/excel graphs and audit work.
- Wide experience of the use of pharmacy computer systems.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of training staff.
- Experience of working with an ePMA / EPR system
- Management/supervisory experience.
- Experience in writing Standard Operational Procedures
Special Knowledge

- Computing skills, ability to use Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access.
