An exciting opportunity has arisen within this busy Pathology service to join the Blood Science team. You will be key members of the team ensuring timely sample collection and delivery for analysis whilst always maintaining patient safety. You will be required to provide a service that meets the quality standards of ISO 15189:2012 and participate in out of core hours work patterns, working weekends and bank holidays, which attract salary enhancement. You will work collaboratively with colleagues within Pathology and across the organisation to deliver a patient focused service.

To provide an efficient and empathetic phlebotomy service to inpatients across MKUH, contributing to timely diagnosis and therefore treatment and aiding with discharge of our patients.
Internally
- Liaise with ward staff to ensure the provision of a quality service whilst working within the constraints of the role.
- Communicate effectively with patients in order to perform venepuncture whilst displaying compassion.
- Liaise effectively with laboratory personnel to ensure that samples are collected according to departmental SOPs and ensuring compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
