We have two great opportunities for you to join us as either a Sewage Network or Sewage Treatment Planner, to help manage prioritisation of work programmes and projects for our sewerage network, consisting of over 2,000 sewage pumping stations, 398 water recycling centres, and around 35,000km of sewers.


What you do


As a Sewage Network or Sewage Treatment Planner, you will report to planning managers and help develop and manage the implementation of our 5-year investment plans for sewerage networks and sewage treatment.


The investment plans are split into:

  • enhancement programmes to improve the environment, customer service, and asset resilience
  • planned and reactive capital maintenance of above and below ground assets.


As a Sewage Network or Sewage Treatment planner, your responsibilities will include:

  • monitoring project delivery and associated outputs to ensure that best value is being delivered to both Wessex Water and its customers
  • producing detailed technical project briefs to ensure that Wessex Water gets value for money and the best technical solutions
  • assisting in the preparation of business plans, drainage and wastewater management plans, with submissions to our regulators
  • co-ordinating data submissions to our regulators and playing a key role at Wessex Water to collate data from numerous sources and departments to report in an auditable manner
  • representing the asset owner at review and solutions meetings to ensure that all proposed projects are both technically and financially viable.


What you'll need


To succeed within this role, you will be a proactive individual who is able to work effectively within a team environment, as well as independently.


You will have significant water industry experience with either:

  • knowledge of sewerage networks (eg, design of sewerage systems, hydraulic analysis and understanding of computer hydraulic modelling, geospatial databases and visualisation techniques)
  • knowledge of wastewater treatment processes (eg, design of treatment systems, hydraulic analysis and understanding of computer hydraulic modelling).


For both roles, you will also have:

  • HND qualification or equivalent
  • strong IT skills, including database design and analysis
  • analytical and influential oral and written communication skills
  • excellent organisation and planning
  • excellent communication skills at all levels
  • business awareness and problem-solving skills.
