Planning Manager (HV Substations)

South West England (Hybrid)

Package: £90,000 +

Turner Lovell are recruiting a Planning Manager to join a £1billion + turnover EPC Contractor in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Having secured multi-year framework agreements, they are now expanding the team to deliver turnkey HV substation projects ranging from £20m to £150m across the UK.

This role will see you working on the production and delivery of programmes for multiple substation infrastructure projects (132 – 400kV).

Key duties:

Act as a key client-facing representative, ensuring clear communication and alignment on planning deliverables.
Develop and manage detailed programmes for design, procurement, and construction phases of substation projects.
Coordinate progress trackers to support regular reporting and future bid analysis.
Mentor junior planners on technical programming aspects.
Collaborate with site teams and attend client meetings throughout project lifecycle.
Support bid teams with planning input to strengthen proposals.
Manage benchmarking data, risk, issue, and opportunity registers.
Drive innovation in planning techniques and lead business improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

Solid background in planning large-scale projects within high-voltage environments.
Hands-on experience with National Grid substation operations.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide planning teams.
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
Working knowledge of NEC contract structures and applications.
Valid UK driving licence.
Confident communicator with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
Demonstrated success in driving strategic change and delivering business improvements.
