Make a difference

Every role at CQC contributes to our mission. If you’re looking for a new role in Technology that gives a true sense of meaning and purpose, then you’ve found it! As a Platform Engineer, you’ll help ensure our cloud infrastructure is secure, efficient, and reliable - supporting the systems that underpin our work to improve health and care services.

Picture this

Imagine being the person who spots a critical issue in our cloud environment and fixes it before it impacts our users - your work keeps our systems running and our mission on track. In the last year working for CQC as a Platform Engineer, you might have automated a key deployment process using Infrastructure as Code, saving hours of manual work each week. You might have also implemented monitoring improvements that helped detect and resolve performance issues in our Azure environment.

The role

You’ll be key in helping us deliver our work. In this role, you’ll:

  • Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure: Support and enhance our Azure and Dynamics 365 systems using automation and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with DevOps and Software Engineering to deploy, monitor, and improve our digital services.
  • Respond to issues and innovate: Investigate alerts, troubleshoot problems, and contribute to continuous improvement of our systems and processes

What We Can Offer You...

Your health and wellbeing are important to us and are supported through our benefits scheme:

  • 27 days of leave per year, rising to 32.5 days with length of service, plus bank holidays (usually 8 days per year).
  • Opportunities and support for in house and external training and development.
  • Free, unlimited access to Headspace meditation app.
  • Sports and gym discounts.
  • Free employee assistance service 24 hours a day.
  • NHS pension scheme, with around a 14% employer contribution.
  • Discounts to high street stores, supermarkets, restaurants and more.
  • Eligibility to apply for a Blue Light Card, which cost £4.99 and are valid for 2 years.
  • Fleet home electronics and car leasing salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme up to the value of £5,000.
  • Internal reward scheme where you could win a voucher or two!

We want to make working for CQC a great experience for everyone, and to role model a diverse and representative culture. To support an inclusive environment where colleagues feel empowered to bring their whole self to work, we support a variety of staff networks, including the Race Equality Network, LGBT+ Equality Network, Carers Equality Network, Disability Equality Network and Gender Equality network.

Show Us

We will be looking for specific skills, knowledge and experience in your application form:

  • Experience with Azure and automation: Show how you’ve supported or improved cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform, PowerShell, or YML.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices: Demonstrate your experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and Agile or DevOps environments.
  • Problem-solving and collaboration: Share examples of how you’ve worked with others to identify and resolve technical issues or improve system performance.

Individual Adjustments…

We are committed to being open and transparent around our processes and we endeavour to offer every candidate the opportunity to perform at their best throughout the recruitment process. We seek to support candidates to identify potential challenges and work with them to identify and facilitate individual adjustments as appropriate.

Should you require assistance and/or would like to request an adjustment at any stage of the recruitment process, please contact a member of the team via email: [email protected].

To progress your application, you’ll need to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK. Without valid right to work you won’t be eligible for the role. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Some roles may also be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Equity for all

A Note on AI

About

AI tools can be great for research and refining ideas, but we want to learn about you. If you use AI or Chatbots to help you with your application, keep these points in mind:

  • AI can support research, structuring and refining your writing, but your application must reflect your real skills and experience. Spell-checking and condensing word counts are great ways to use AI effectively.
  • Do not copy and paste AI generated answers. These will not help you stand out; remember we want to hear about your skills and experience.
  • Providing false and insincere examples goes against our core values of honesty and integrity and may lead to your application being withdrawn or termination of your employment.

Values and vision

We are guided by our core values, which shape our work and our culture.

Excellence – being a high-performing organisation.

Caring – treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Integrity – doing the right thing.

Teamwork – learning from each other to be the best we can.

We are a disability confident employer and a carer confident employer.
