About This Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic member of staff interested in undertaking the role of a Positive Engagement Officer.� This is within the Cared For and Care Experienced Team in Workington.
Our young people are at the heart of everything we do in the Cared for and Care Experienced service. This opportunity involves working alongside young people aged (16 -25) their careers, allocated workers and partner agencies to encourage and support high expectations in helping cared for and care experienced young people to achieve their full potential in post-16 education, employment and training.
Within this role you will work creatively with the Young People to encourage and support them for example with applications (work and education); preparation for interviews; engaging in voluntary and work ready programmes; developing their confidence and building self-esteem to be enable them to be successful.
You will work both within the Cared for Team and within the Virtual School Team to identify and develop education, training and employment opportunities in the local area as well as supporting these agencies to understand the impact of being Cared for or Care Experienced and what they can do as an agency to support our Young People.
Seeing and spending time with your young people is a vital part of the role, therefore will include travel and visiting young people in the community where they reside. Cumberland is proud to support a number of Unaccompanied and Separated young people who are going through the asylum process to integrate into their local communities and achieve their aspirations.
This role is available on a permanent basis.
