The role
Position: Post Fixtures Supervisor (Chemical)
Reporting to: Head of Post Fixtures
Contract type: Full Time
Location: London
Overview of role
As the Post Fixtures Supervisor, you are responsible for ensuring the timely receipt of monies owing to the Principals and negotiating any disputed amounts with Charterers.
Key responsibilities and primary deliverables
- Calculating and collecting freight and hire charges as per Charter Party (C/P) terms for respective vessels
- Calculating demurrage
- Generating accurate and well documented claims
- Maintaining and reconciling each vessels account profile
- Responding on behalf of Principals to charterers queries
- Reviewing C/P details and liaising with brokers on amendments
- Maintaining finances for all Chartered In vessels, including payment of hire/freight
- Calculate, maintain and report cash flow/revenue on daily basis and provide Finance department with projected weekly income
Reports
- Analyse demurrage trends to understand changes and to support the business
- Produce weekly and ad hoc reports and maintain and distribute demurrage metrics
Documentation Management
- Accurately maintain data and records in the correct databases and folders
- Liaise with the Master or Agent to ensure that all required supporting documentation is received, acceptable and processed
Freight, Lay-time and Demurrage Administration
- Ensure you are continually updated and have full knowledge of the charter party including the laycan/laydays, vessel’s itinerary, last cargoes and freight and demurrage rates
- Monitor receipts of freight, demurrage and other incoming payments
Communication
- Assist in building strong relationships between the Principals and Charterers
- Assist in building strong cross departmental working relationships
- Ensure all communication is clear, concise and accurate
Skills profile
Relevant experience & education
- Strong academic record with professional qualifications in maritime would be an advantage
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within Chemical Post Fixtures
- Demonstrated understanding of charter party agreements and their various clauses
- Knowledge and understanding of marine and terminal operations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate and maintain strong relationships across the business
- Well-developed numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement
- Exceptional organisational skills and experience of prioritising changing workflows to support delivery
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, collaborative in style and excellent communication skills
