The Postdoctoral Research Fellow appointed to this fixed-term (one year), part-time (0.2 FTE, 7 hours per week) position will support a project focused on examining the impact of the Research Council-funded Industrial Centre for Doctoral Training for Offshore Renewable Energy (IDCORE) on the development of human, intellectual/technological, economic and social capital, and its role in supporting the emergence and growth of the Offshore and Renewable Energy sector within both the UK and more broadly in Europe.
The appointee will work with Professors Sarah Cooper and Raluca Bunduchi from the School’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group, and with colleagues involved in running the Doctoral Training Centre in the School of Engineering. The Research Fellow will be involved in conducting the literature review, developing the theoretical framing for the project, writing up of findings, and in the dissemination of the findings through conferences and publications for an academic and an industry/policy audience. The Fellow is expected to take a leading role in undertaking data collection and data analysis activities, including conducting a survey, accessing and conducting the interviews with the Doctoral Training Centre alumni and other industry stakeholders, and performing the thematic coding and analysis of the interview data using NVivo.
Your Skills And Attributes For Success
- PhD in Enterprise and Business Development or Entrepreneurship, or have completed viva examination for doctoral research in these fields.
- Strong understanding of issues affecting the development and growth of technology-intensive enterprises in emerging sectors and/or markets.
- Proven skills in the collection and coding of qualitative data, primarily interview data, and the analysis of sizeable qualitative datasets.
- Experience of working with NVivo to handle complex datasets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience of engaging with both academic and industry/policy audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
