We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Power Station Operations Expert, to be involved in iindustry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
The Power Station Operations Expert will use their knowledge and experience of Power Station Operations to develop, implement and share requirements and guidance with the aim of ensuring the RR SMR aims of high availability and low cost are achievable. They will attend and inform design and decision reviews of components, systems and layouts to ensure the RR SMR design implements features to support through-life operation and maintenance, including into the decommissioning phase of the lifecycle. They will identify and document design decisions which need to be made to ensure the RR SMR design supports efficient and safe operation.
The Power Station Operations Expert will need to integrate successfully with other design teams, be able to extract pertinent information about complex systems and processes, and appropriately resolve conflicts between requirements.
The Power Station Operations Expert will represent Rolls-Royce SMR during external interactions as required including interactions with potential customers, regulators and industry bodies.
Specific activities will include the development of:
- Staffing models. Identifying the skill types, roles and numbers of staff required for successful through-life operation, helping to inform the requirements of the power station e.g., layout and sizing.
- Operating conditions and limits. Informing the development of Operating Limits and Conditions for normal and faulted operation, informing the system and controls and instrumentation design development.
- Operating principles and philosophies. Utilising experience and knowledge of Power Station Operation to inform and define how the power station operates through all operating modes (power and shutdown) and states (normal, abnormal, faulted, emergency).
- Through-Life Cost model. Generating and obtaining data to develop a through-life cost model, considering the cost of, for example, staffing, spare parts, maintenance.
- Design for Decommissioning and Operations requirements. Using own knowledge and experience and wider industry operational experience to develop requirements to inform the design in the areas of operations and decommissioning.

Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £68,000 - £89,000 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 17%
- Benefits Allowance – £5,000 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
