Job Overview
This post is secondment for 18 weeks to meet the needs of the service.
This is an exciting secondment opportunity to provide educational and pastoral support to International Nurses. As a Practice Development Nurse (PDN), part of your main duties will be to educationally prepare International Nurses to undertake the NMC Test of Competence. For this reason, awareness of the NMC OSCE process is recommended.
The post holder will support and promote excellence in patient care through development and coordination of all aspects of staff education, preceptorship programme training and development for post graduate education provision in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB).
The post holder will work in partnership with key stakeholders to develop strategies to ensure recruitment and retention of a highly motivated workforce by assessing training requirements and supporting and delivering the agreed induction programme for IEN’s within the organisation.
The post holder will work autonomously and be responsible for the development of training, induction and practice assessor and practice supervisor programmes, taking into account legislation and policy development.
NMC OSCE Training is delivered at the Royal Gwent Hospital

Main duties of the job

Working with divisional Practice Educators, plan and develop practice education activities, specific to International Nurse education
Prepare International Nurses through education and clinical skill practice to undertake the NMC Test of Competence.
Participate in the delivery of pastoral care of the International Nurses to help them to settle into working here in Wales. Support their integration into their clinical areas, as a point of contact to provide on-site support and professional advice regarding Registration and Standards.
Work alongside International Nurses in their clinical areas, providing support and best practice advice to both educators and preceptors and proposing interventions for improvement.
Influence the education provision for the pre-registered international nurse workforce, assessing and ensuring competence that enables service improvement and delivery of effective patient
Support corporate professional initiatives, contributing teaching skills, professional knowledge and clinical skill training to nursing staff across the UHB e.g., supporting the Venous Access and Intravenous Administration Programme
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
