Ricoh are currently recruiting for a Pre-Sales Solution Design Consultant.
You will ideally be a highly experienced Technical Audio Visual and Video Conferencing (AV/Collaboration) professional to work closely with the sales team on international Workplace Experience (WeX) opportunities within corporate and retail verticals and assist in closing deals. As part of this role you will provide technical expertise, consultative engagement, and solution design to deliver innovative, scalable, and cost-effective AV systems.

What you will be doing
- Designing AV/VC systems and developing technical proposals through client consultations to effectively address business objectives and audiovisual requirements.
- Preparing concise, client-focused documentation that highlights value propositions and differentiating features.
- Collaborating with customer stakeholders from all levels and translating client needs into technical specifications and presentations.
- Creating solution designs for proposals by preparing, block diagrams, equipment lists, and schematics using tools such as, AutoCAD, XTEN, D-tools, or Visio Etc.
- Providing technical support to the sales / bid team, such as: Analyzing RFI, RFPs submissions, helping to identify client requirements, scope, and evaluation criteria collaborating with sales and bid teams to develop a compelling technical response.
- Tracking RFP deadlines and deliverables to ensure timely submission.
- Offering technical clarification as needed, both internally and externally, and demonstrating the capability to present proposed solutions effectively during client meetings, demonstrations, or Q&A sessions.
- Preparing of Bill of Materials (BoM) with a focus on engineering accuracy and efficiency; providing cost estimates and ensuring proposed solutions meet budgetary requirements.
- Providing labour estimates for activities such as engineering, commissioning, and installation.
- Attending customer design workshops/ consultation.
- Providing approval for opportunity sign-off for BOMs/proposals etc.
- Attending key manufacturer new product / technology training courses as they become available / necessary. And holding required certifications, qualifications and/or passing exams as required by the business/or our vendors.
- Investigating new innovative technology and making product recommendations to the business for evaluation.
You will ideally have
- Ideal candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification, with preference given to subjects studied such as Engineering, alongside proven experience in a similar role with an AV/VC integrator or AV/VC Consultancy.
- Preferably you will have proven experience of successfully working in a targeted environment in an international context, preferably with an AV/VC background.
- Successful candidates will ideally be fluent both spoken and written in English, with any additional language skills a plus.
- Preferably you will have strong knowledge of AV/VC (unified communications, video, audio, control, switching and routing of signals as well as AV VC over IP).
- Ideally candidates will have confidence to utilise Microsoft Office, particularly O/M365, OneDrive/SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, PowerApps daily. Plus any familiarity with AutoCAD LT, MSFT Visio, XTEN, D-Tools and other design/ AV specific tools a distinct bonus.
- Successful candidates will ideally be highly motivated with good time management and prioritisation skills. Alongside the ability to identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, including creative solutions-based design thinking.
- Previous experience in designing AV/VC systems to a budget would be an advantage, alongside the ability to pre-qualify design work, to estimate time & effort required for scheduling &/or approval of opportunities.
- Any previous experience in working in a pre-sales process/delivery, incorporating Pre-sales site visits, RFI, RFP reviews, Tender or Panel Short-list interviews or creating responses to clarification &/or design changes would be a distinct advantage.
- Candidates who hold any of the below industry recognised qualifications/certifications would be highly desirable: Microsoft MCE. MSFT Teams architect. AVIXA’s: CTS, CTS-D or CTS-I. Extron: EAVA, DTP/XTP/AIP/designer Poly: PCVE, Cisco: ATP (ITS/ITSI) or CCNA/CCND, Crestron: CAP/DM/designer, AMX: ACE/designer. Q-SYS, BiAMP, Dante Designer etc.
