Job Title: Pricing Actuary (Maternity Cover)

Position Type: FTC, 35 hours per week

Location: City of London, Aldgate

Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Job Purpose

Working under the direction of the Lead Pricing Actuary for Casualty, Credit and Surety to deliver pricing support and management information to underwriting teams across the business. Classes of business include Directors & Officers, Professional Liability, Crime, Cyber, Trade Credit and Surety products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical pricing models – develop existing models and deliver new models as required. Improve information available to underwriters at time of writing, enhance data capture for future reporting and analysis, and recalibrate and improve accuracy of pricing tools utilizing predictive modelling methodologies where appropriate.
  • Case pricing – support underwriters’ analysis of individual risks where required.
  • Carry out analysis to support the annual budgeting process.
  • Assist the actuarial team with the annual review of ECM parameters relating to modelling of underwriting risk and large losses.
  • Assist with Actuarial Function Reports, Lloyd’s Minimum Standards compliance and other Lloyd’s or PRA pricing related requests as required.
  • Liaise with Finance, BI/IT, Catastrophe Exposure Management, Reinsurance and Compliance teams as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Production and development of management information (MI) to assist all aspects of underwriting performance management.
  • Assist with technical analysis to support the outward reinsurance purchase process.

Performance Objectives

  • Successfully integrate with underwriting teams and add value to the business.
  • Contribute to improving underwriting performance, through improved technical/modelling input into underwriting decisions, more efficient processes and better reporting.

Skills And Experience Specification

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant pricing experience involving practical application of actuarial methods and statistical techniques used in pricing of London Market P&C lines, in particular experience with predictive modelling techniques such as GLMs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, STEM, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA), Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or similar.
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of the industry as well as legal and technical developments affecting the business environment in which TMHCC operates.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment, including specific responsibilities placed on the actuarial function as part of the Solvency II framework and Lloyd’s Minimum Standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office software
  • Programming aptitude / experience highly desirable – e.g. VBA, SQL, Python, R
