Job Introduction
An interim opportunity is available for a Primary Network Design (PND) Engineer based at our offices at Bristol in the South West, for a period of 18 months, subject to review.
The successful candidate will work within the PND team who are responsible for undertaking power system analysis and the network design associated with both new connections and reinforcement of the 132kV, 66kV and 33kV distribution network throughout National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), and for the provision of technical support to Network Services and other teams within NGED. The successful candidate will report to the PND Network Reinforcement & ANM Programme Lead.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can join us in developing our outputs to meet the ED2 & ED3 business plan targets including the need to ensure capacity is available for new connections, technology and changing demand patterns.
As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

The PND Engineers in the team are responsible for various aspects of system design including:
Ideal Candidate
You should be self-motivated, take ownership and personal responsibility for your workload, and demonstrate a clear knowledge of the principles and issues associated with EHV and 132kV network design.
You must have the ability to present information in a clear and reasoned way and be able to communicate this across the business and to NGED stakeholders.
An open yet analytical approach to problem solving and good computer skills are also essential to the role. A familiarity with network analysis tools such as PSSE, IPSA or PowerFactory would be an advantage.
An Electrical engineering degree or equivalent qualification is desirable as is a full UK driving licence.
