Who we're looking for
We require a Principal Business Analyst to help us and our internal customers translate their data requirements into solutions within our Enterprise Data Platform. These requirements will focus on both platform and product features as well as the translation of non technical requirements into solutions such as Data Products.
What you'll do
As the Principal Business Analyst in the team, you will be accountable for triage of internal customer requests, providing written and data based analysis and inputting ideas into how we function as a team to ensure we drive informed business decisions. We encourage retrospectives to drive improvements so you will also play a part in that process.The position no responsibility for direct reports at this time.
What you will be doing?
You will be responsible for the data onboarding demand for enterprise data platfrom in terms of (1) understanding users pain points, (2) requirements elicitation both on functional/non-functional requirements and (3) extracting/documenting the business value around the data onboarding for each request/project.
- Data onboarding requirements elicitation: Take ownership for capturing and refining business and non/functional requirements related to data onboarding requests for the enterprise data platform, ensuring a clear understanding of the business value and objectives behind each request
- Ingestion pattern/solution advisory: Advise customers and users on the most suitable data ingestion patterns based on business requirements, collaborating with engineering, delivery, and architecture to ensure solutions follow best practices and align with platform standards
- Ingestion pattern documentation: Develop and maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date library of documented ingestion patterns (e.g. batch file, API, real-time, event-driven). Ensure these resources are communicated to users according to their needs and profiles
- User enablement: Co-organise and deliver user enablement, such as training sessions, detailed documentation, and lunch-and-learn workshops, to ensure users understand how to effectively onboard data while following established patterns and processes & measure against an outcome such as user sentiment or process friction.
The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need
- Solid understanding of end-to-end data ingestion and integration concepts, including data structures, security, governance, ETL, data pipelines, and batch, near real-time, and real-time processing
- Strong knowledge of data ingestion patterns such as FTP (pull/push), APIs, file-based methods (e.g. SFTP, cloud storage), database integrations, Snowflake data sharing, and event-driven or real-time streaming
- Familiarity of firewall and IP whitelisting requirements for secure data onboarding connectivity
- Familiarity with data security solutions such as data masking, tokenisation, and hashing, as well as knowledge of access controls including role-based access control (RBAC) and secure data handling practices.
- Knowledge of working with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for managing data pipelines, ingestion, scheduling, transformation, storage, and orchestration
- Partnering with internal customers to create a data platform that provides for our data and business needs
- Familiarity with Snowflake features such as secure data sharing between accounts and environments, and data replication.
- Experience in ensuring data quality during the onboarding process, including validation and monitoring of ingested data
- A track record in converting complex requirements into process or technical specifications
- An understanding of any of the following industries: Wealth Management, Pensions & Insurance or Asset Management

- Ability to deal credibly with both business staff and technical users at all levels of the organisation, with strong senior stakeholder management skills
- An understanding of software development and architecture principles
- Strong knowledge of improving process/ service through structured thinking and techniques. Demonstrates an understanding of users' challenges and needs through a structured approach, extending beyond basic requirements gathering.
- Experience of using a Data Catalogue & tool such as Collibra
- Experience with Data Analysis, Data Engineering & building Data Products
- Experience of working using both Agile and waterfall methods.

- Experience with Data Migration projects
