A Little More About Your Role…
We are seeking a highly motived and experienced PD Representative to provide specialist advice and guidance on CDM compliance, risk management, and health and safety throughout the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- As PD Representative the objectives are to ensure the risk management processes are in line with CDM 2015 and contact deliverables / Design management plans / risk registered and survey information, communication and document control pathways are reviewed and CDM-A has an input at safety in design stage.
- The PD Representative works closely with the project team to ensure all aspects of the Principal Designer role are perform.
- Working closely with the Designers to assist them apply the Principles of Prevention to design out risks and hazards as far as is reasonable practicable.
- Assist the Client with the provision of the Pre-construction Information
- Provide Pre-construction Information to all Designers and Contractors
- Prepare the Health and Safety File
- Pass the Health and Safety File to the Principal Contractor or Client as appropriate
- The PD Rep will attend site to establish preconstruction conditions, site layout and collect or ascertain extent of previous H&S / O&M, site risk management information
- Review and support at pre-construction phase to ensure transfer of risk information from design team, to enable CPP development. CPP Review for initial start-up and review of Risk Assessments.
- Safety Audits on a regular frequency to monitor progress and statutory compliance on site. Regular monthly reporting required
- To implement a near miss reporting mechanism and accident reporting tracker or database along with client process
- Will support continual improvement programme Promote wider lessons learnt sessions for Project Team, improve engagement to H&S awareness and commitment at all levels.
What We'll Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- NEBOSH Diploma or Construction Certificate (or higher) or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Experience acting as CDM Principal Designer on medium to large projects.
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and wider construction health and safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead meetings and engage confidently with clients, designers, and contractors.
- Proficient in preparing pre-construction information, design risk registers, and Health and Safety Files (CDM Documentation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and organisation.
Desirable Qualifications...
- Degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline or civil engineering.
- Experience with National Grid Transmission in the capacity of Principal Design Representative, or in a comparable role within a similar sector.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH, APS, RIBA, ICE, CIOB, CABE).
