As a
Principal Electrical Engineer, As Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll lead the @one Alliance’s electrical engineering discipline at a national and sector level. You’ll drive innovation, champion quality, and develop value-focused solutions that shape our future infrastructure. This is your platform to guide teams, resolve complex challenges, and set the tone for safe, effective design delivery.
What you'll be doing
Main Responsibilities
- Represent the @one alliance and provide sector-level leadership for Electrical Engineering.
- Be the Electrical Engineering authority, responsible for providing independent advice and arbitration for quality and compliance related issues.
- Lead quality for electrical design, by developing procedures, standards and guidance, and monitoring adherence to achieve a right first-time philosophy.
- Stage 1 solutions - support the identification and assessment of options (ROV process). Support the Design Manager to ensure competent staff are involved during Stage 1.
- Provide direction and support to Lead and discipline engineers to choose appropriate design methods to deliver their engineering outputs to time and quality standards.
- Provide direction and advice for complex design challenges that are beyond the competency of projects teams and the @one, including seeking external expertise.
- Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations – drive excellence in health, safety and welfare for electrical engineering, including supporting all engineers to achieving sufficient skills to produce safe designs and discharge their obligations according to the CDM Regulations.
- Identify health, safety and welfare issues with team members and seek support to manage.
- Undertake audits of electrical engineering specific safety standards (e.g. HAZOP and DSEAR), including compliance with, and lead the implementation of changes and improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to your Lead Engineers, including delegating discipline development tasks to them. Daily task management to be undertaken by the Senior Design Managers for the Lead Engineers.
- Provide clear, consistent, and visible leadership to the electrical engineering team. Lead and conduct electrical engineering meetings to promote discipline engagement and deliver initiatives.

- Engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Chartered Professional Engineer status
- Strong background in water-sector assets and capital project delivery
- Experience in Design & Build environments is beneficial
