Job Title: Principal Procurement Professional
Location: Scotstoun/Govan. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £45,000 to £52,000 depending on skills and experience
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing the supplier responsibilities during delivery, installation and commissioning of key equipment on the ship
- Working with Engineering, Operations and Quality to deliver equipment from suppliers that meets our specification, quality, schedule and cost requirements
- Leading these multi discipline activities – e.g. weekly project reviews with suppliers, Factory Acceptance Tests of equipment, quarterly business reviews, in yard supplier visits etc.
- Managing the contract with each supplier including delivery of milestones, negotiation of contract changes, and investigating and resolving claims for delay or poor performance
- Using the ERM system to manage Purchase Orders and other deliverables
- Reporting monthly and quarterly on cost and schedule performance
- Leading on cost by actively pursuing cost reduction or cost avoidance activity, often requiring multi stakeholder buy-in
Essential
Your skills and experiences:
- Proven experience in direct procurement within complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex contracts throughout the delivery phase
- Strong commercial acumen with sound decision-making capabilities
- Confident communicator across all levels, from operational staff to senior leadership
- Skilled in influencing, presenting and building relationships
Desirable
- MCIPS qualified, or working towards CIPS certification, with relevant industry experience
- Familiarity with project management principles, methodologies and tools

The Procurement Team
Step into a high-impact team managing three complex contracts across Category A and B products—supporting major defence programmes.
