As the demand to deliver exceptional engineering design from our clients continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Principal Electrical (P&C) Engineer.
As a Principal P&C Engineer – HV role will be reporting to the Discipline Head – HV and will be responsible ensuring the quality and consistency of the teams output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents.
You will also work with the Power Sector Director to assist during the bid process in order to secure further work.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the UK’s energy infrastructure—Directing the design and review of high-voltage substation schemes (132kV–400kV), mentoring engineers, and collaborating with major UK utilities. Your work will directly contribute to safer, smarter, and more resilient energy systems.
Key Deliverables
- Directing the design of protection and control systems for HV substations
- Designing SCADA and automation systems using IEC 61850 and DNP3 protocols
- Producing and reviewing key line diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Collaborating with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams from concept to commissioning
- Building strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
About You
- BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering (Power/HV focus)
- Strong experience in HV substation protection and control design
- Familiarity with software like ETAP, MathCAD, Siemens DIGSI, GE Enervista
- Knowledge of UK utility standards (National Grid, SSEN, SPEN, etc.)
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and mentoring skills
