Job Description
What will you be doing?
As a Process Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in delivering complex mechanical and fluid systems for a major nuclear programme. You’ll be responsible for key elements of system design—from technical documentation to control logic—ensuring safe, efficient operation that meets strict engineering and regulatory standards.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Systems Design & Documentation
- Develop and maintain technical documentation covering fluid systems, operating procedures, control logic, safety, and testing.
- Ensure system designs are aligned with project requirements, engineering standards, and compliance needs.
Instrumentation & Control
- Define functional requirements and develop system control logic.
- Produce supporting diagrams and specifications for testing and operations.
- Review system performance and make improvements based on test outcomes.
Mechanical Engineering
- Specify and size key components such as pumps, valves, pipework, and tanks.
- Conduct fluid system analysis using both in-house and commercial tools.
- Ensure 3D models align with mechanical design intent.
- Support procurement with technical documentation and system specifications.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyse project data and apply lessons learned from similar high-integrity engineering environments.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of systems across safety, layout, environment, and procurement.
- Drive process optimisation and share technical knowledge across teams.

Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Process, Nuclear, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of fluid systems, mechanical design, or I&C integration.
- Experience working on large, highly regulated engineering projects (e.g. nuclear, defence, aerospace, oil & gas).
- Familiar with industry standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. RCC-M, ASME, ISO 9001).
- Proficient with system modelling and analysis tools (thermal-hydraulic or mechanical).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, 3D models, and technical specifications.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering disciplines.
- Comfortable producing clear technical documentation and contributing to procurement activities.
