Job Description
Wood Mackenzie’s Long Term Power product team is responsible for a suite of products that enables our customers to make decisions that matter across the energy value chain. This includes Lens Power, our data analytics platform, that delivers insights at key decision points in end-to-end workflows.
Establishing a resilient, sustainable portfolio is critical for energy companies as they develop agile business models to meet net zero goals, we strive to be the partner of choice, offering a range of technical solutions to support the business needs of these companies. Our team delivers integrated analysis across the power sector, enabling customers to navigate energy industry dynamics, and make quicker, more effective decisions.
We are currently looking for a Product Analyst to join our team and work across our suite of products for the long term power sector. You will be involved in all aspects of analysing the product, from understanding and assessing the market opportunity to shipping features to deliver value. You will work closely with the product team and Wood Mackenzie experts to support the development of features that help our customers to make critical strategic decisions.
This role requires a high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities coupled with a keenness to learn and a can-do attitude.
Main Responsibilities
Working with our Long Term Power product team, you will be supporting the product team of three talented PMs and the Product Director.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Collecting and analysing data – Gathering and analysing customer insights and finding ways to automate manual processes, including using AI. Using data to inform product decisions.
- Product optimisation – Working on improving existing features with Product Managers, scoping out requirements and working with the development team to deliver.
- Supporting market research – Supporting on analysis of competitor products, features and market positioning, industry trends, common pain points and gaps.
- Supporting discovery and user research – Organising and joining user interview sessions, synthesising qualitative feedback into actionable insights as well as developing and testing prototypes. You will lead on investigating, testing and harnessing AI tools for these tasks.
- Improving customer engagement – Building customer engagement workflows, such as behavioural based automated email notifications, product tours and feature request tooling that is more than a form.
- Liaising with sales and marketing – Participating in demos and on-boarding sessions as well as answering product questions. Developing in-depth knowledge of the product and supporting sales and marketing by finding ways to improve how we communicate and sell to customers.
- Reporting and communication - Create and maintain product dashboards, tracking feature adoption, user engagement and product stickiness. Sharing insights and cohort analysis with the rest of the product team and stakeholders, including engineering and leadership teams.
- Documentation and materials – Finding ways to improve our customer facing documentation for technical and non-technical customers. Creating documents to help communicate product features to support product launches and user adoption.
We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be present in the office at least three days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones.
Key Skills & Experience
You will be passionate about bringing great products to market and solving our customers biggest challenges. Your experience includes:
- Some understanding of product development processes.
- Strong ability to analyse data, identify trends and draw meaningful insights.
- Ability to test and use no-code/low-code AI tools such as Lovable, Replit, n8n and Zapier.
- A keen interest in using AI to improve productivity and integrate into the product discovery process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload and different responsibilities.
- A keen interest in making a difference to the way we power the planet.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering-based discipline, or equivalent practical experience is desirable.
- Ideally one year of work experience, ideally at a B2B SaaS company.
