As a Production Operative working within our Specials departments at our Ewhurst site, you will be fully trained to work with our specialised tools and machinery to turn raw materials into products ready for use in the construction industry. You will become an expert and support your colleagues to produce high quality results.
You will be hands-on with the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing site; operate various factory machinery, equipment and forklifts whilst ensuring high levels of health and safety at all times.
About The Role
Youll be supported by the Team Leader to ensure production flow is smooth, efficient and safe. We will provide you with full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to safely and effectively work as a Keymer Production Operative where you will
- Hand throw, form and finish clay tile and brick products to a high quality at reasonable speed
- Operate various pieces of factory machinery and equipment.
- Carry out numerous ancillary tasks to support daily production operations.
- Hand sort fired product to correct standard & hand setting unfired product.
- Ensure optimum production targets, minimum waste and the highest levels of consistent quality are achieved.
- Monitor the kilns and dryers to include carrying out routine maintenance tasks to ensure the kiln seals are maintained in preparation for firing.
- Strip and re-build kiln cars.
- Actively take part in any training requested to enhance your role.
- Factory cleaning tasks
Hours of Work: 6.00pm to 6.00am on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (Nights)
About You
- Youll enjoy working in an environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands-on.
- Flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities in the factory which help us run efficiently.
- Safety is our biggest priority, so youll be committed to safe working and have good general safety awareness.
- Youll be fit enough to perform your duties, which are varied, and often physically demanding.
- Good literacy - as there is some paperwork involved.
- Excellent time keeping
- A can-do attitude
- Good team working skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ideally you will have experience in handmaking (shaping by hand) but not essential as full training will be given.
- OPTIONAL -Current / valid RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS or CPCS forklift truck license
Experience in a factory/manufacturing environment is desirable, but not essential, as full training is provided.
