Job Purpose:
To be a Production Operator capable of working with broadcast equipment in a fast-paced live environment. The Production Operator is primarily responsible for providing audio and video and graphics gallery support to the Production Director, working closely with client Producers to deliver professional broadcast content.
Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Production Operator are set out below.
Mixing sound sources, monitoring and maintaining of audio levels, audio ingest and playback, operation of ancillary equipment (including compressor/limiter, ISDN), use of microphones, rigging of all equipment ensuring health and safety guidelines are met, liaison with production staff and talent via talkback, use of the broadcast router.
Replay ingest and playout, source selection via broadcast router, use of server-based video systems.
On-screen graphics control via PC interface, selection of automated data, manual data input.
Use of vision desk to ensure correct output across all three channels.
Use of talkback facilities, interaction with broadcast and monitoring routers, carry out start-up and power down procedures in some technical areas.
Camera set-up and racking, operation of remote camera control systems, use of intelligent lighting controller/lighting desks, set-up of microphones and all associated studio equipment.
