DWF are currently seeking a Professional Risks Assistant/Claims Handler to join our Professional Risks team, reporting directly into the Professional Risks Manager.
Your role will include close liaison across the business, handling internal enquiries about claims notifications and advising on responses to claims and related conduct issues such as conflicts of interest. You will be responsible for ensuring all records are maintained and updated and will also be responsible for organising payments of claims.
Further responsibilities will include notifying and liaising with insurers, preparing bordereau and internal MI reports. This is an internal role dealing with the firm's claims and notifications and supports DWF with our own claims, an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to work inhouse.
This is a hybrid role ideally based in the North West which requires a level of attendance to our Manchester office - this is arranged in conjunction with the Professional Risks Manager and we can be flexible with requirements for the successful candidate
Responsibilities
- Advising on responses to claims and related conduct issues such as conflicts of interest.
- Notifying claims and claim circumstances to insurers and liaising with insurers.
- Managing claims under supervision.
- Negotiating settlements with claimants or lawyers under supervision.
- Maintaining and updating records and electronic files relating to claims notifications.
- Undertake root cause analysis and proactively support discussions with teams on improving.
- Handling internal emails and telephone enquiries relating claims notifications ensuring all information is obtained for the relevant fee earners and teams.
- Preparing internal MI reports for various stakeholders including the Risk Committee and the Executive Board.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
- Claims handling experience on behalf of insurers, preferably within a professional risk or professional indemnity function.
- Legal qualification is not essential, however experience in the legal sector desirable, including knowledge of civil procedure and claims handling.
- Ability to handle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols, and deal with issues discreetly where necessary.
- Ability to progress tasks using own initiative, seeking guidance and input from others where appropriate.
Desirable
- Enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.
- Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise own workload effectively under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
