The Insurance Directorate supervises all the UK’s Retail Commercial and Life insurance providers, from sole director entities to large multi-nationals – working to ensure that these firms do not pose a risk to the FCA’s statutory objectives.
The Market Analysis and Policy (MAPS) department is responsible for designing and implementing the strategy for the Insurance Directorate as well as monitoring data, identifying risks and analysing key trends in the UK Insurance market. The MAPS department also includes the Insurance Policy team, which is responsible for the FCA policy and rules for the UK insurance market and the firms within it, and the Insurance Projects team, which delivers key pieces of thematic and multi-firm work to identify, diagnose and remedy risks and issues within the UK insurance market. The MAPs department plays a crucial role in delivering the FCA strategy and business plan to the UK insurance market.
This role involves organising the flow of information received by managers in the department, monitoring and maintaining diaries, booking meetings, organising travel and undertaking tasks that support the working of teams, projects or individuals.
What will you be doing?
- Providing proactive support by addressing unexpected issues and responding to queries on behalf of managers
- Working alongside local Head of Department’s PA and the Director’s PA to oversee and the division’s administrative activities
- Maintaining effective administrative support across the Division while serving as a key resource and leading by example
- Coordinating attendance of external meetings including booking venues, arranging travel and accommodation and processing expenses
- Providing daily support to the department, including managing diaries, prioritising schedules and overseeing IT arrangements for new starters, movers and leavers

Minimum
- Prior experience in delivering high-quality administrative support to the team, including mailbox and diary management
- Prior experience in a role which has required excellent written communication skills, conveying information in a clear and concise manner
- Prior experience of working confidently and effectively with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders
Essential
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work in a structured way and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
- Ability to handle staff confidential and sensitive data with utmost discretion ensuring confidentiality is upheld at all times
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring precision in all tasks
- Capable of professionally engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders on both general and confidential matters
- Ability to build good working relationships & networks across the division, the FCA in general and with external suppliers by gaining trust
- Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining the flexibility to work independently and take initiative
