Main Function of the role:

The Funds Finance Team are responsible for financial reporting and fund operational matters for circa $10bn of AUM invested into Private Equity and Infrastructure strategies.

The role will be split between cyclical fund operational matters and supporting the business with transformational data and operational projects.

Core Finance - Fund Accounting

The Project Accountant will be allocated a range of externally administered funds to oversee. A key responsibility will be to review month end ledgers to ensure that these are completed accurately, on a timely basis and are replicated correctly within the in-house accounting system. You will further review key fund deliverables such as investor drawdowns and distributions, investment contributions and distributions, fund liquidity models, fee models and related accounting entries. Building a strong relationship with the Investors Relations team and the Investment team will be important to cover off ad hoc items.


Data Projects – Data and Operational Change

The role will assist in various key projects for the business which may include items such as outsourcing the remaining internally administered funds to a third party administrator, enhancing the process for obtaining, reviewing and presenting critical accounting data (i.e. implementing a consistent process for month-end data extraction from the third party administrators accounting system and improving the quality of fee models using technology.

The business collates a large volume of data which the Funds Finance Team are required to review, analyse and report on to investors and the wider business. This role would suit a candidate who is comfortable with manipulating data who is enthusiastic to embrace new technologies and automate processes.


Key task and responsibilities:

Fund Operations

  • Oversight of a number of third party administered funds, reviewing key items such as: management fees, carried interest, collation of investment valuation reports, liquidity management, investor capital calls, investment/divestment transactions, quarterly capital account statements, annual fund audits
  • Become the lead contact for any ad hoc finance or operational queries for your fund allocation
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations, Investment, Legal, Tax, Compliance teams
  • Completion of the month-end review process including reconciliation with the in-house accounting system
  • Oversight and management of the internal control environment and controls manual within a Sox compliant environment


Project Change

  • Lead on various business change projects as dictated by the business such as:
  • Outsourcing various legacy funds to the third-party administrator, ensuring that data is migrated from Investran (in-house system) to E-Front (administrator system) in a timely and accurate manner
  • Review fee models and make improvements using technology. The business use a technology tool called QashQade which models will be moved onto in order to improve the accuracy of calculations and to make forecasting easier
  • Identify other manual processes which can be improved and work with the Funds Finance Managers and Associate Director to make recommendations to improve these processes through technology
  • Assist the Funds Finance Team in improving the quality of data extraction and storage in order to facilitate high quality investor reporting alongside the performance reporting and investor relations teams.


Minimum knowledge & experience required:

  • 2 years+ of management accounting or audit experience within a private funds environment
  • Have completed a professional accounting qualification (i.e. ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent)
  • Past project management experience implementing new applications or processes
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and governance


Candidate Profile:

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain exposure to senior individuals while contributing to business critical projects under the guidance of an experienced team.

The following skills are desirable:


  • Experience on a private equity accounting system (I.e FIS Investran, E-Front, Allvue)
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse large data volumes, with knowledge of systems such as Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx or similar being highly advantageous
  • Deadline-focused, reliable and able to work independently in order to drive forward material projects over several months
  • Ability to collaborate with various areas of the business in order to deliver on various projects as well as BAU operational matters
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and take on new responsibilities in a small team
  • Organised in approach to work, with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the confidence to deal with key senior stakeholders


The role requires 3 days per week in the office unless otherwise agreed with the line manager and HR department.
