Are you a motivated Project Manager who is excited by delivering meaningful business change?


This is an exciting opportunity to lead on a variety of business change projects that support our Fit for the Future plan, helping us deliver strong investment outcomes and outstanding client service for our Partner Funds.


This role is not an IT Project Manager position – while some projects may involve systems or technology, the focus is firmly on business change, governance, and process delivery across the organisation.


You’ll report to the Head of Programmes and work closely with the Senior Project Manager, giving you both support and the chance to take on real responsibility.


This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a high-profile role.


What You’ll Be Doing


As a Project Manager at LGPS Central, you’ll be right at the heart of delivering change across the business. You will:

  • Plan and deliver a variety of business change projects (this is not an IT Project Manager role).
  • Develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables with input from colleagues.
  • Manage project plans, risks, budgets, and dependencies.
  • Support change impact assessments and help colleagues adapt to new processes.
  • Prepare project documentation such as RAID logs, reports, and governance packs.
  • Organise and facilitate project meetings, workshops, and steering groups.
  • Collaborate across Investments, Finance, Governance, Operations, and other teams.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.


About Us

LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA-regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing £45bn+ of their assets. It is one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK.

LGPS Central is owned equally by all eight of its Partner Funds and is dedicated to the management of local government pension assets. LGPS Central manages assets across public and private markets both internally and through externally appointed investment managers.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Project management experience, ideally within financial services, pensions, or another regulated environment.
  • A good grasp of project management approaches (Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2).
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, with a real desire to develop further as a project manager.

Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Finance, Project Management, or related field.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, AgilePM, PMP) desirable.
  • Change management certification (e.g. Prosci, APMG) desirable
  • Asset Management or Banking experience desirable
